I want to share with you my garden, not a flower garden, a vegetable garden.
Perfect for summer foods, and mediterranean recipes..
Thats a general view... you can even see the chicken house on top right corner... i have 3 chicken girls inside
producing 3 eggs daily... (but i think one of them is ready to sit on them for birth, but i dont have a male chicken inside, so it wont make any babies)
Lets start with the zucchini, its used in almost every greek summer recipe... fried, grilled, stuffed,
you can even fill the flower on top, with cheese and fry it in olive oil :)
Lets continue with onnions...we all know them... these underground b@stards... that give
amazing taste in everything, an we find them in every food there is in the world... Onions with garlic, its said that
they can even cure cancer.
Next, we are going through a small plant of aubergines, planted 10 days ago, didnt produce anything yet... but it will the next week... its the round ones.. bigger for getting stuffed with lots of other vegetables, and then grilled.
Thats a normal, bigger plant, with normal shape aubergine... aubergines are strange in their watering...
Too low, and cannot grow... sometimes, too much water, and they have a bitter taste.
Thats another aubergine, and its white... :) its rare, and it is said that it originated from the volcano of a famous
island, Santorini... The story says, that these aubergines grow white there, cause the soil - ground, of the island is black, from the lava.
The well know tomatoes... these ladies dont need any introduction :P
This year, for some reason their leaves, are getting yellowish too soon...
I dont know whats happening yet, and they should have been bigger...
Too small tomatoes so far... :(
some corn, i messed up the seeds, when planting... there are breeds only for popcorn, and
breeds for eating them (grilled or boiled - directly)
You put the corns, usually in the ends of the garden, so when they get big.. they act as a firewall :P, (damn computer literature) like a fence, for neighboors, that want to steal your other groceries... heheheh
Stuffed pepers, i like them with minch meat, and rise... grilled... followed by huge amounts of feta, (white cheese)
Normal green pepers, sweet... i also have red, known as pepers of Florina, but they didnt grow up yet, and the plant looks exactly the same.
Long Beans, they grow up strait in the beggining, and after that you put small strings from wooden stick to wooden stick, and they can grow and multiplex with each other...
and again this year, some bug is messing with the leaves, so i sprayed them with some powder...
Next stop cucumbers, very nice vegetable, almost like a fruit.. very freshy and tasty in the summer...
Its been dating the tomato, in our greek salads for almost 2000 years... never got married.... :P
When they grow, in the right same and size... (this is for naughty brains) They can be used it different situations...
Even for self------ defence :P
My mini tomatoes, are going fine... and they actually taste very good.. not like the plastic ones served in luxurious restaurants... yaaikkk.... !
Parsley, i didnt know the word, so i hope google translated it correcly... its a "herb"
used in cooking for better taste.... It is supposed to have a lot of vitamin c, and some oils, inside it, that have antibacterial use...
Well its perfect for making mohitos!!!! heeheheh
An advice for fellow gardeners... never water the groceries, directly... dig small paths between them...
Like that...
I prefer to water them in the evening hours, when the sun is down... DONT watter them in the morning.. when the sun is directly up... the water evaporates too quickly, and the soil dries up, breaks an hardens...
and in the end... a flower for the ladies who read this post...
