How to measure a civilization in very simple words yet hold profound meanings and perfectly describe today's status of established and self-proclaimed civilizations:
' I do not think the measure of a civilization is how tall its buildings of concrete are, but rather how well its people have learned to relate to their environment and fellow man.'
-Chippewa
Don't get impressed by tall buildings, we still have no real clue how the Pyramids were built several thousands of years ago, and keep in mind that the Empire State Building in New York of 102 floors is almost 100 years old, the construction started in March 1930 and was opened in May 1931 (look it up).
But what kind of civilization did the United States with its skyscrapers present to the world? Bombing other countries, toppling other governments, stealing the oil and gold from the people it 'genocided' and turned into refugees? Similarly, the other western countries, and maybe other countries on the other side of the planet so westerners won't feel too much upset.
