Gemstones are hot in the market and many people are into it because of what they symbolize.
They can be reminders and inspirations for us whenever we see them worn or displayed at home.

Citrine and Blue Topaz
Citrine is said to symbolize success.
Blue topaz or topaz is said to mean tapas/z, or fire, flame. It is said to attract gold. Not that it has a scientific back up, Nope.
But symbols and meanings still represent people who prefer wearing them or simply, they may like the color.
Do you own any?
A bit vague to me
As a jewelry enthusiast I would obviously love a collection or at least have a few pieces and colors that resonate with me.
However,

How real are the gems?
Maybe it is harder to tell compared to telling which items are actually made of gold, silver or steel.
Some fade and have a distinct color and then they tarnish. You'll know.
But with gems, not too sure.
How to tell?
There's very few methods you can do at home or with the naked eye.
(1) check with a x10 magnifying glass if there are inclusions.
Inclusions are forms of impurities. They may be:
- small cavities
- bubbles
- air
- water
- specs of some materials inside
(2) Gems are tested under a microscope under polarized light, UV light.
- their refraction, opacity, colors are then analyzed.
There are a few other tests like (3) checking the hardness of it. But can you afford to smash and scratch your gems? Maybe not.
So with small gems like these 5x7mm (1ct) drop or pear gems.
Really hopeless that I can tell anything with my phone flash and x4 zoom in lens 🤭😂

Glass? Authentic? Synthetic?
Money back if proven fake?
Do we really trust the market especially with high quality imitations? Do we settle for "it's a bit pricey it looks nice" blanket?
Or, I could run to the pawnshop and have these appraised. 🤔 Yes I just thought of that now as I write. True true.
