La hortensia (the hydrangea)

Some time ago in a work that I had, my boss brought a beautiful flower: “Hortensia” (hydrangea). I was impressed, because I really liked it, and I asked what the name of the flower was and her impressed as well, told me the name of the flower and told me that it was a “lucky charm” flower. Later, a client used a phrase that keeped on my boss mind:
"why do you have an Hortensia (Hydrangea)? Isn’t for bad luck? Those words fell like a dagger to my boss and she order me to search about the flower. The story seems so funny to me, so I’m going to tell you shortly about it.

Hace un tiempo en un trabajo que tuve, mi jefa llevo una hermosa flor: la hortensia. Yo impresionado porque en serio me había gustado, pregunté cómo se llamaba y ella sorprendida, me dijo el nombre y que era de buena suerte. Más tarde, un cliente pasó por el negocio y uso una frase que le quedó marcada a mi jefa: “¿por qué tienes una hortensia? Eso es de mala suerte?” Esas palabras le cayeron como un puñal a mi jefa y me mandó a investigar bien sobre esta planta. Me pareció tan curiosa la historia que ahora les contaré de manera resumida de que va.

The Hortensia is a plant that require too much care. I remember that when I worked there, one day we forgot to water the flower and the next day the leaf were sad and the flower was almost dead. The legend which follow the Hortensia's name is amazing, especially because it is full of coincidences.

La hortensia es una planta que se tiene que cuidar mucho. Recuerdo que cuando estaba trabajando, un día se nos olvidó echarle agua a la planta y al siguiente día tenía las hojas tristes y estaba casi muerta. La leyenda que sigue el nombre de la Hortensia es impresionante, sobre todo porque está llena de casualidades.

Its talks about the french King Luis XIV and how him commissioned his subordinates to search new flowers for the palace's gardens. For the mission, the subordinates went to Brasil in the search of new plants. On the ship was a "beautiful cabin boy" with a fragil and weak appearance called Banet.

Se habla del rey Francés Luis XIV y como él le encargó a sus subordinados que buscaran nuevas flores para los jardines de su palacio. Para la misión, los subordinados partieron a Brasil a buscar una nueva flora. En el navío había un grumete “hermoso” de apariencia frágil y débil llamado Banet.

Banet was captured by the natives, but later on a the natives set "him" free by noticing Banet really was a woman who wanted to explorer the world. Upon returning to the king he recognized the courage of this girl, naming the new kind of flowers with the girl's name: Hortensia (Hydrangea).

Banet fue capturado por los indígenas, pero después de un tiempo los indígenas lo soltaron al darse cuenta de que era una mujer que quería explorar el mundo. Al regresar, el rey reconoció la valentía de esta chica bautizando a la nueva especie de flores con el nombre de la chica: Hortensia.

However, there's also a color coge when its spoke about the Hydrangea, and not everything is bad. There also exist the belief that the flower bring hope and good vibes, so, it’s on you how you think this beautiful flowers.
