I'm experimenting with posting some random bits of my genealogy research here. The further back you go, the less reliable the information tends to be. Here we are talking High Middle Ages time period so it's definitely going pretty far back.
In my early days of exploring genealogy, I concentrated more on quantity than quality. That is, I didn't necessary track down original sources and instead relied on whatever citations I could find in online sources...when there was anything at all. These days I concentrate more on tracking down original sources. Images of census data, birth certificates, death certificates, marriage licenses, draft cards and so on are a lot easier to find these days that they were 10 years ago or more but with tens of thousands of names it's going to be a very long process.
