After months of tournament activity, we have completed the first rotation of tiers from Solo to National, and it is time for the Solo tier tournament once again. Solo is the easiest tier for low level teams to perform in, so I am advertising this tournament with a blog article. Last week, the National tier tournament was disappointing in terms of participation, with eight people signing up and only six claiming prizes after playing 50% of matches or more. With registration underway for this week's tournament, we currently only have four signups. This is a great opportunity for anyone who hasn't participated yet, if you have a team, even a low level one, you can compete and earn free GLX and packs to boost your GLG collection value. I would love to see at least ten signups for this week although I am not holding my breath.
With so little participation in organized tournament, and the Discord being a hive of negativity and bitterness about the project, one can wonder what the future has in stock for this ecosystem. Personally, I am looking forward to Prime Pick to attract a few new people whose primary interest is in sports betting, but I don't expect a flood of new people to come in. But if you are not involved in GLG and you are reading this article, now is a great time to just build a team and participate in the Solo tier tournament, as the rewards are very good within the scope of the game. I recently won the National tournament and walked away with 120 packs. If those can be worth even a dollar one day, that is 120$ in future money right there.
For those who would like to participate but are unsure how to create a team, hop into the Discord and ask for help from the community, you will still find people willing to guide you through the basic steps. You will have to spend a bit of money however, as there are no longer free cards being given out in giveaways. It is still a low hanging fruit to build a level 10 or 20 team, play in local ranked (even autoplay works) and participating in as many tournaments as possible. You will earn rewards which aren't worth a ton right now, but could be much more valuable later. The link to signup on challonge is here. (challonge.com/iwgm6d1) You will need to register an account on that website as this is where we record scores and keep the leaderboard. It is easy and free to do.
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you out on the field!
