The behavior of a cornered animal is well known for its violent desperation. With the potential end of the Syrian conflict coming into view as a result of the courageous efforts of the Syrian military with assistance from Russia, the U.S. and Western allies (or as Putin would more accurately describe, "vassals") appear to be preparing for a final act of desperation, rather than admitting defeat. I hope I am wrong, but the prior behavior of all players in this situation - dramatically underscored by the inflammatory rhetoric of Nikki Haley - would predict otherwise.
