I pick on Leo constantly only because I don't think he is as good as he thinks he is. Maybe I am jealous but i will admit that this movie is actually really good.
If you haven't seen it yet you really aught to watch it. It is very well done and the fact that it is loosely based on actual events makes it even better. Seriously: watch this one.
The movie was made in 2002 when Leo was much younger and a lot less full of himself. It follows the story of Frank Abagnale (true-ish story) and how he performed con-jobs including to pretend to be a pilot for Pan-Am as well as a doctor and a lawyer.
do you concur?
Frank (Leo) learns accidentally at a very young age that he has a great talent for lying because of various (somewhat traumatizing) things that happen to him as a youth. He ends up pulling off multiple con jobs based solely on what he sees around him and the opportunities that they make available for people that are "confident" enough to pull them off. This turns into some really interesting jobs that he is completely unqualified for and also a prolonged "career" in forgery.
The really great thing about all of this is that an awful lot of the story is admirable, and also very true.
This is a real person, most of these things actually really did happen. Frank managed to not kill anyone and in the end when he was caught he was offered a job by the US Government and helped them to catch other forgers (of documents) for many many years after his capture.
Overall i would say this movie is probably better for you than it is for me because I have a chip on my shoulder towards Leo that I can't fully explain.
I thought the movie was great and if you know my stuff, you will realize that i tend to rate things with some real-life truth to them a bit higher than others. Even if Leo is in them. Oh, and most people don't know this but Tom Hanks is also in this movie.
