This is not a style of music that I normally would try to listen to but to be fair I can't really put my finger on exactly what kind of music it is. Is it EDM? Is it pop? I don't know exactly but I do know that the songs are good and Sia is an incredibly talented vocalist.
Sia is known for her outlandish outfits in live performances and also the fact that she usually keeps at least most of her face hidden during said performances. She also doesn't do a great deal of theatrics or dancing, normally just standing in one place while her hired dancers do all the moving bits for her. She also doesn't feature herself in her videos at all as far as i have seen. This was considered a gamble from people inside of the music industry - and as it turns out it was a gamble that paid off. She has amassed more than 6 billion views on youtube over the years. Not too shabby for someone that comes from an acid-jazz background performing in small clubs in Adelaide.
I was actually quite surprised to find out how old she is given her mainstream popularity with today's youthful music scene. She is actually older than me. I suppose when you have that unique of a voice, your age is irrelevant. However, i wonder if that is the reason why she chooses to not feature herself in performances and videos. Or maybe she is just extremely shy.
I would be willing to bet that you have heard a few of her songs even if you aren't actively aware of it. "Chandelier" was a pretty famous one and featured the extremely talented dancer Maddie Ziegler
The next video, and perhaps my favorite Sia song was Elastic Heart. The video featured Ziegler and Hollywood nutjob Shia LaBeouf. I have to say I was quite impressed with Shia as he is not a professional dancer (some would argue he isn't a professional actor either... lol.)
This video created a bit of a stir with the world's SJW's because Ziegler was only 15 at the time and LaBeouf is i don't know how old but older than 15. Some of the video could be considered mildly sexual to a person who is trying to find fault in everything in existence (and that is a SJW's job, right?).. Sia never even acknowledged the criticism and refused to respond to anyone who was "triggered" on Twitter. Well done Sia.
I find Sia's lyrics and songs haunting and touching. Even though I am a metal fan, I also find her songs to be great motivation in the gym - and I can't really explain why.
