Believe in ghost's or not Hull has some spooky tales to tell here are a few that I grew up with..
Annison Building formerly a funeral parlour , now a late night chemist , has a large courtyard that did have stables , the building is quite impressive built in 1876 on land were Catholic's were murdered , tortured and left to die, a number of sightings including of shadow's , people hearing screams and wail's fill the air , most people are frightened to go there after dark , even chemist staff who work there now are troubled by door's slamming , object's moving. The most famous tale was that of Mary Jane Langley in 1891 seen alive and well at Annison's before she met a grisly end , her case was never solved and is Hull's most famous unsolved murder.Rumour's abound she was murdered by a Jack the Ripper suspect -Fredrick Bailey Deeming, her spirit still wandering the building.....
The White Lady , a urban legend in Hull , based on a poem which told the murder of White Lady's baby , stand under Sutton railway bridge in Hull you may hear crying, scratching sound's or see the ghost of The White Lady , apparently she threw herself on the railway bridge after finding her baby murdered, if you dare say White Lady three times you are plagued by her ghost .....
39 De Grey Street, a newer one that I heard of nick named " The Hostel " faces at the window have even led to the police having to be called. A woman been dragged by her leg's across the room, object's moving , the owner has tried renting out the house but with only tenant's lasting four day's. The story is that children were locked in a cupboard under the stair's with people sensing a evil entity , even the owner found knives that were in drawer now to be balancing on plates that were drying out on a rack.Police have ran out the house after a call from a tenant claiming she was dragged out her bed and was been strangled , on finding nothing there to prove ,there made to leave only for a bookcase to fall on them !!
Ye Olde White Harte- a pub that I have been to on a ghost walk and seen the skull that sits behind the bar , tales go that when the skull is moved , the restless spirit is said to come back to haunt the building until the bones are took back to were there belong , rumour's that the skull belong's to young boy murdered by a drunk sea captain or a serving girl.
Have a good's night sleep...
