The act of giving to the poor is no longer a new story. People give in so many ways; materially, financially and other wise. But my focus today is giving financially and materially to the less privileged around you and the true liberation.
So many times, I see people donating one form of food item, clothing and money to the poor. Sometimes they take it as a point of duty to visit and give the same group of people yearly without solving the actual problem of either food or comfort which brings them back to the same place, no change at all. The same hardship, same position and same begging lifestyle.
To me, if you are buoyant enough to buy 100 bags of rice, cartons of tomatoes, clothing and other items, then have it in mind that the money for those items is capable of establishing or empowering a good number of persons with something substantial. If just one person from a poor background can be established, you have not just helped one person but an entire family and possibly, a generation yet unborn. You've erased their names from the book of poverty and wouldn't have to wait for you next year to give to them but establish themselves and possibly join you in your vision of elevating others from poverty.
However, do the little you can if you don't have so much to empower the poor yet. God will continue to bless you as far as it is done genuinely from a good and sincere heart.
