Below we will analyze the new deception core cards and how powerful a hidden aggro style is for this god. After, we will discuss possible counters for this strategy including the key new core cards for those gods.
Best New Core Cards
The best card that was added I think is Selfess Guildmate. This card is hidden and has a roar ability of give +3 strength to another guild creature. If you are going first, you could play this card with another new core card ronellan sparrow and have a hidden 5 strength creature with ward. On turn two, you could play a dark knives and give this creature plus 3 strength dealing eight mana to the opponent’s face.
A few other great card additions in my opinion are thought siphon and ronellan streetslinker. The siphon card is 0 mana and puts a creature to sleep. This is great for board control early and can continue the trend of dealing heavy damage in the first few turns. Streetslinker has backline and hidden along with 4 damage. With all the low mana creatures and a few monsters who give sleep, this card has a great potential to stick and deal heavy damage throughout the match.
Hidden Aggro Strategy
As mentioned above, the strategy is to hit your opponent’s god as much as possible in the first few rounds. Using hidden, allows your cards to at least be viable for their first attack. Using orfeo’s distraction god power, allows you to avoid a frontline strategy by your opponent. When going first, there is really little your opponent can do to eliminate your early creatures. I expect this strategy to only last until mana 5 and you should have your opponent close to defeated by then or things may take a turn for the worse. The only card that may turn the tide in the late game is witherfingers that puts all your opponents creatures to sleep as well as giving them burn +2.
Counter Strategy
Using magic, you can hit these hidden cards with spells removing them from the board. The only trouble card will be the sparrow that was talked about previously. Once you have survived the initial onslaught, your larger frontline monsters or overkill monsters can take control.
Another strategy is playing a similar aggro playstyle and try and beat your opponent to the end. War has several buffed and frenzied creatures that can ramp up and deal more damage per turn than deception early in the game. Relics are also a great way to deal high damage or remove creatures who are no longer hidden.
Conclusion
I am looking forward to hopefully earning or purchasing a few of these new core cards to add to my hidden deception deck. It is a playstyle that is not complicated and does not take a long time which is what I prefer. Realistically, the game could be over by turn six or seven depending on the cards this deception deck gets early on.
