It's that hour before sunset, most often noticed in the summer when the angle of the sun setting is shallower and the shadows are long.
Painters try to capture it, as do photographers. Painter Maxfield Parrish was particularly famous for his romanticized sunsets.
I don't have much creative to offer today, but this evening was gorgeous, as I looked out the window... so enjoy the golden hour, even though these photos are a poor substitute for the real thing.
The gable of the neighbors' house catches the late afternoon sun
The late sun touches the lavender and grasses
Slowly, the sun turns more and more orange; the light softens
A busy bee makes the most of the last warmth of the day
Clover, normally looking white, now looks pink
The daisies catch the final rays of the day
On the bay, the water glimmers with the setting sun... then suddenly is gone.
And so, another day comes to a close. It was a strange day, today... but it ended with a display of nature's beauty. And for that, I am grateful.
