Red lanterns are hung to celebrate the traditional Chinese New Year in China.
Lanterns are hang up from now on and not removed until the Lantern Festival (Jan. 15th of Lunar New Year).
Chinese lantern originated from Eastern Han Dynasty of Chinese history.
In Chinese opinion, red lantern represents family reunion, prosperity, happiness, and so on. So everybody likes it.
Notably, in the overseas Chinese settlement area, such as Chinatown is hang up red lanterns for the entire year.
These Chinese red lanterns have become a symbol of Chinese culture.
Big red lanterns and Chinese knots are hanging out high.
A Chinese word"福"(fu, Chinese pinyin) is in the center of these Chinese knots.
福 means blessing, good fortune, good luck, happiness, etc.
Chinese people buy the Chinese Knot for family and wish good luck will come with them in the coming year.
May auspicious will accompany all of us forever.
In the evening, red lanterns become rows of fireballs that hang up in the air.

在中国， 人们把大红灯笼高高挂起，庆祝传统的中国新年（春节），从现在开始，灯笼要一直挂起来直到农历正月十五过元宵节（灯节）。
中国的灯笼起源于东汉时期。
在中国人眼中，红灯笼象征着阖家团圆、事业兴旺、红红火火，象征着幸福、光明、活力、圆满与富贵，所以人人都喜欢。尤其在海外华人聚居的地区，比如唐人街，一年四季悬挂着大红灯笼。这种传统，渗透着中华民族特有的、丰富的文化底蕴。红灯笼俨然成了中国文化的符号。
每个中国结的中间都有一个汉字“福”，“福” 的意思是吉祥、好运、幸福等等。中国人买中国结希望来年有好运气，吉祥如意。
