Our problems with finding clean drinking water ( I assume you're refering to 3rd world countries now?) is mainly because of the corruption at a local level. The money distribution in those 3rd world countries is terrible and mostly goes to corrupt leaders, that's why we have problems creating clean drinking water in those areas.
What environmental friendly sources to generate energy do we have, in your opinion then? To my knowing the only one would be using nuclear power plants. The others (sun, wind, water) are not beneficial yet, same as Tesla cars. How about the lithium battery, have you seen where those resources come from? The technology, as it is today, is too poor to generate enough energy for us humans to drop fossil fuels. We simply cannot reduce our CO2 output significantly that it has any influence on the environment without drasticly changing our current way of living. Yes, we must do something about the CO2 output, and many bright scientists are working very hard every day to accomplish it. But right now we must either accept we generate CO2, or start living as people do in a 3rd world country.
Don't forget that even thinking about CO2 output is a 'rich man's problem'. Look at poor people in the Asian continent, they burn whatever they can for some warmth. When your child is feeling cold due to a harsh winter, will you let your child feel cold or burn that couch on the street to help him? The problem is much more complex than environmentalist make it look.
