"A good leader has a good follower"
At first, I didn't believe that saying, I thought it's just nothing. As long as it has a rhyming scheme on it then it's fine.I mean, they're leaders, they have powers, they have the right to control every individual if they really want to. Why bother to be good, just to be followed?
But everything that I believed faded away when I was voted by the school as one of the Supreme student government officers. I realized that to be respected, you must discipline first yourself. Don't be boastful, just because you hold a title, let us not forget that if it weren't for other people, you will never be who you are right now and you will have nothing to be proud of if they didn't choose you.
Me?a leader? hmmm!. sounds good. You get the chance to meet other people with high rank in school because you're one of them.You got the chance to join their popular group, be a classic event with them, and most especially experience something new that is rare to happen.
But despite those good things, I never thought that being a leader is like being a soldier in the middle of a battlefield. As a leader, you must always be prepared, never let your guard down.Don't show any weaknesses to your competitors.You must make sure that you are always ready whatever happens.
But a sudden conflict happened.Academic grades decreases, I failed to comply all the given performance tasks, reports, and projects.I can't remember any school days that I failed to pass all of it. But I was wrong, i really did forgot it.Maybe that was during the time that I got busy being a leader.I forgot to manage my time.But I didn't regret being a leader cause it's.my responsibility.
Now, you see my point? Being a leader is not an essay. But what's very difficult for a leader is if he or she doesn't have any follower.OF course, a certain leader needs to have someone who could help him/her carry the responsibilities bestowed upon him or her.A leader needs someone he or she could count anytime.But it will only happen if that leader will show love and give values to his or her followers.
Just because you're a leader, doesn't mean you're going to control every move your follower will do. Let us not forget that your follower's patience relies on your performance as a leader. It is a leader's job to lead the group, supervise the group and most especially, make every planned work to be successful. It is a leader's job keep everything in peace and order for the bitterness of his or her surrounding, but only then, everything will happen if that leader is good enough to lead.For "leadership is not just about popularity and intelligence, but is all about responsibility".
