Hello Steemians,
Google is about to launch Android P globally, however, before releasing the new version of Android, Google is redesigning all of its 5-Star applications like Gmail, Phone, Youtube and many more. But the main thing which caught many's eyes is the new sign-in snippet for Google accounts. In the previous version of Sign-in module, there was not much user control. The best thing about this new update is that there is some more verification layer which is not like overheads in the previous Google sign-in module. Its good to see that Google is putting pretty much hard dedication in UI and UX of their public apps. The last major UI and UX modification were done during the Lollipop and Marshmallow Android launch. So it's all pointing that Android P is going to be a major release!
The Login Snippet
- In the previous version of the Login module, one can simply hit the forgot password and can opt for the "Send verification code on the mobile number" but the problem with this is that anyone who knows your email ID can opt for this option and Google will keep you sending text code on your phone even though if you are not attempting for a forgot password option.
- Due to this one can spam you with the Google messages while you are attending some business or professional works. And the notification alert will make you cringe while focusing on your tasks.
- To overcome this loop-hole, now you have to verify your phone number too! Just like when you opt for email verification where you have to enter your full email ID. Google will only show you the last digits of your mobile number (like - ********89) and you have to enter your full number just like you do with mail!
- This new UX let's all the unnecessary login or forgot password spams away. And you do not have to worry if anyone is trying to login using your Google account. Simple as that.
Treble Support
- The next big thing in this update is the Treble support. Treble support is one of the hot topics after the Android Oreo release. So basically what is this Treble support?
- Treble support is the basic Android framework support that every Android OS must have in order to integrate with Google apps safely and with fewer service interruptions.
- There were many Android OS customization companies like MIUI, Lineage OS, Oxygen OS, etc which deeply edits all the major sensitive apps and services that can cause the data breach.
- To overcome this drawback of the basic Android framework, Google has noticed all these companies to not to edit or do any modification in such layers which can cause trouble. Along with this, Google also said that they will provide the basic framework update irrespective of Company's updates.
- Treble update is now necessary and compulsory for all the recent devices which is running on Oreo or has target update on Android P.
Applications
- On 30 July 2018, Google has pushed the new Phone app update which has the overall new design and UX which is a lot better than the previous versions.
- Not just the Phone app, if you have opted for the Beta testing then you can see a lot of pre-release changes that can be considered for the global release.
- Mobile Chrome can have the new search bar at the bottom of the screen just like in Whatsapp message text-area. Whereas the new Youtube app is pushing further optimization in their Android app.
- Youtube is also considering to bring background music option where you can run youtube in the background and can focus on audio only instead of video.
- Considering all these new silent updates we can predict that Google is aiming to target the new Android P to a large part of smartphone users.
- Unlike Apple iOS, Google keeps their user's smartphone anti-theft by providing Security patches on monthly basis. Though a large portion of Android users doesn't have security updates due to their respective manufacturing company.
- This is one of the key reason that made Google slam such companies that don't give frequent security updates to their users. And finally, Google launched the Treble support.
- Security isn't that main concern for Google Android till 2014 where the number of Android users were less compared to the iPhone users. But as the projection of Android users went up, Google decided to launch security patches which were not considered as an important part in terms of frequent updates.
- Now Google launches security patches on monthly basis and the transition is started. However, it is still a problem with the users who have outdated Android versions like Lollipop or KitKat, which are no longer supported for any framework basic updates.
- However, to minimize this loopholes, Google has been updating their apps periodically to keep their apps and security intact!
- Before the launch of Android's newest version, Google wants to make everything sure in terms of frequent system patches. Along with the new UI, UX is one of the key things in their upcoming release.
- Android P dev release has already excited the users. The new notification panel, sound panel, the recent screen is keeping the audiences ready with increased adrenaline during the upcoming launch.
- Along with Android P, Google is also planning to redesign the Gmail - Google mail after a long time. However, the -Gmail update is going to launch later in the month of September.
- Google is also planning to expand its services in Asia, mainly in South-Asian countries. Google is in talks with several Indo-Chinese cloud companies to boost its cloud services.
- Google is also planning to come up with their own search engine specially designed and optimized for the Chinese users. Google is also seeking for a major return in China after 2010.
- This all updates and announcements signal green for their users along with the business perspective. The roadmap of Google in 2018!
- As per the information Android P is about to launch on 20 August!
That's all for now! -
