Sometimes we are faced with such ridiculous sets of rules. At the moment our government building is being more strict on the rules while entering the government building. Im just talking about the clothing regulations which I find are completely out of hand. Bear in mind that I live on a tropical island where the average day temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius, or 87 Fahrenheit. Have a look for yourself:
A couple ones really stand out to me
- No Thirts
- No Shorts
- No flipflops/ sandals
I understand that we do not want people to walk inside a government building in a bikini. But, really we are going to decline people of entering the building because they are wearing Tshirts? What do we want them to wear then? Blouses? That is way too expensive for most people to buy with an average salary of $800 a month. And what about if you have a nice Tshirt and you get declined, and the next guy is wearing a blouse with offensive language on it. Is that one allowed to enter then?
No shorts?? If you are talking about hot pants that is bit different I find. But a nice short or a bermuda will get you declined as well. Again, it is a tropical island we live on. Some of those nice old seniors in bermudas were sent away because of their shorts.
And no flipflops/ sandals??? That is just utter nonsense to me. You know the majority of office ladies actually work on sandals as a normal shoe. Im not talking about a pair of Havaianas, but a nice decent looking sandal that can go under a working outfit. Boom, declined! I can honestly admit that the amount of time that I wearing closed shoes will be max 5 times per year of something like that. People live on flipflops here.
What is not fair especially...
...is that many people saw ALL their belongings blown away during the hurricane, and are now dependent on clothing donations coming from other countries. So many people are not having a choice in what to wear, but they are being judged on what they are wearing.
And we are talking about a government building where you are being sent to even for the most simple registration form. Where you are being sent to when you have to renew your license/ID/permit papers. Where you get sent to for a stamp to make a document official. Where the waiting time for an appointment at the moment is 7 weeks or longer. Where the website of has not been updates for years now. A decent county website should have a lot of info online and printable. That would take the pressure of the civil servants being so busy.
But nooooo, instead we bother about what people are wearing before they enter. Not about the landfill still being on fire for weeks, not about all the holes in the main roads, not about the super high unemployment rate, not about our country being in huge dept. We choose to follow strict clothing regulations.
Its so stupid, and I can only and just shake my damn head and wonder about this.
