It has now been a full month since the government shutdown began. Soon, 800,000 furloughed workers will miss their second paycheck this year. Trump’s shutdown is now the longest in American history. The effects of this event have become pretty clear lately - many food safety inspections from the FDA have been haulted, Park Rangers all over the country are struggling to keep parks clean and cared for, and TSA + Air Traffic Controllers are calling in sick or quitting their jobs outright.

Is all of this really worth it? Everybody knew that Mexico wasn’t going to pay for this stupid wall, but I don’t know anybody that thought it would turn out like this.
After the massive tax cuts for the wealthy, and all the rhetoric about being a candidate for the people, this is the costly temper tantrum that we get stuck with. We’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t here. If legislators fund this short-sighted, spendy, and ultimately ineffective project, the government goes back to work and taxpayers get conned into paying for this giant mistake. If the opposition stands its ground, then our Dear Leader will continue to hold our country hostage, making us less safe and prosperous.
Are we tired of “winning” yet?
