Kummanam Rajasekharan, Governor of Mizoram, Incumbent, Assumed office on 29 May 2018. IMAGE
A Christian majority state Mizoram in northeast India has apprehensions about former Kerala BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan who has just been sworn in as the new Governor of Mizoram. The Governor was asked to leave for his anti-secular views just a day after the swearing-in ceremony on 29th May, 2018. That's lightning fast!
Rajasekharan has been a hard core member of Hindu supremacist groups such as RSS, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Hindu Aikya Vedi and he's well known for his anti-Christian activities. So it shouldn't come as a surpise why Mizoram a Christian majority state does not like their new Governor Rajasekharan.
The anti-corruption watchdog turned political party called PRISM (People’s Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram) wrote to Mizoram Kohran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC), a conglomerate of 13 major churches in Mizoram, state's political parties and civil society organizations to unitedly oppose Rajasekharan, whom they called anti-secular governor, “to ensure freedom of religion in the State”. PRISM swung into action on wednesday just a day after the swearing-in of the new Governor on Tuesday. Their action is laudable.
