The movie Other People’s money is about a man, Lawrence, who happens to be the president of a major investment company. You then meet a chairman of a company, Jorgy, called NEWC and he explains that he wants to increase his stock values not knowing that Lawrence was planning to take control of the company. They later can not reach an agreement about their situation, so the situation becomes heated. You then meet a young lady named Kate who is trying to help Jorgy with is trial which causes her to go after Lawrence with a lawsuit. She convinces Lawernce to hold off for 2 weeks and then Jorgy that he should buy stock from an out of state broker. She continues to dig in Lawrence’s past and finds some information that could be used against him. In the end, Kate wants to buy back the company and helps Lawrence find a new company which ends with both of them being in good places.
I find this movie interesting because it shows that it is very easy for different companies to get in feuds over anything and everything. No matter if your company is in the electronics business or in the food industry, they will always be something that ties the two together. Another thing I found interesting was the fact is if you are the head of the company, you are always going to be the one that deals with the issues in and out of the company. Yes, I kind of already knew that, but if you don’t keep up with the business news then you don’t hear about it. You might hear what is going on in your local companies, but you don’t really hear it from their corporate office. I feel like corporate offices are really good at keeping the drama to themselves and not letting the world know their issues until it gets really bad.
This movie shows that people are needed to help the stocks in big companies. The more people you have in the company, the better your stocks will be. In this movie it also showed how people don’t work alone in the office. You need to be able to have a job that will allow you to work in a group or teams because it is a more efficient way to get the job done. People also look and see if you are able to work with a team because it could be important to the clients or customers that you have. Society is what keeps the companies going, that way the companies can help them in the way they are needed. How entrepreneurship and society are alike in this movie is the ideas being brough forward. In the movie, Kate was really the one that got both companies to sort their differences out and also help them in the way they wanted. Yes, she was a corporate attorney which means what she did was part of her job, but she did it because if both companies went down then the society would be affected. Entrepreneurship is when great ideas become a reality. When Kate helped Lawrence fight for what he wants, she also got something she wanted in return.
