This post is a response to the question "Mandates can be put in place by the government. Do you agree with mandates? Why or why not? How have vaccine mandates by certain companies affected their particular business’?" posed by
Government mandates requiring vaccines are a very polarizing topic that people generally side on one side of the spectrum or the complete other side. There is really no in-between on the topic of t government vaccine mandates. The same can be said for consumers of a certain business on how they view a business requiring or not requiring the vaccine for employment, or to enter their businesses.
In my opinion, mandates should be delivered and enforced on the state level. This would allow for citizens to have a choice as to if they want to live in a state that puts into place and enforces mandates or vice versa, not enforce mandates. I think mandates are only as powerful as to how strict they are enforced. When it comes to mask mandates, which were a very hot topic around two years ago, I do not think that they did much, if anything for that matter, in states that did not strictly enforce the mandate. Most of the people that were wearing masks during the mandates in loosely enforced areas were most likely already wearing the mask before hand.
I also have no problem with businesses mandating consumers to wear masks or be vaccinated if they want to use their service or buy their products. Private businesses have the constitutional right to refuse service if it is not based on discrimination, and that is the case here. If customers don’t like it, they are more than welcome to take their business elsewhere. One thing however that I do not agree with is when businesses are mandating vaccines in order to remain employed in the company or business. In my opinion, these businesses are only mandating vaccines to not get canceled on social media for not mandating vaccines, and it put employees in an extremely bad spot. With America already being extremely divided, vaccine mandates are just another topic that continues to divide our great country.
