Hey my stars.
Since graduation every week, there has been an event and I have been extremely involved and busy with so many things that I really haven’t had a chance to write a blog. Today is probably the first day in which I’m actually taking out a few hours just to recuperate and dedicate some of my time to post for you guys.
So where to start from: Since graduation, there has been a lot of new borns in the family followed by lots and lots of family gatherings / dinners. Its a lovely occasion of course but I am now at a point where I am so tired and need my own time. Last weekend was pretty much a blur as I wasn’t too well. Despite being ill I had plans. It was Saleha’s Birthday and I couldn’t miss it for anything. She had planned this London trip for a while and she was super excited. She had a whole list of things to do and I wanted to be a part of it. On Friday at work I was feeling a little tired but thought I just needed to rest. By the evening I knew I was coming up with something so I made sure I took medication an all. on Saturday morning, I was all bunged up but I soldiered it through. I ate a filling breakfast and drank lemsip. Ugh I hate lemsip, it makes me gag but I wanted a fast recovery. I also stocked up on tablets to keep me going.
London was awesome, but the weather didn’t help. It was turing down with rain all day. However, we didn’t let that ruin our day. Our first stop was having brunch at the Coppa lounge near the Tower Bridge. I always saw pictures on Instagram but never visited so was great. The food was lovely and their customer service was on point. We then headed to Shoreditch for the “famous” soft serve ice-cream. I had a matcha ice-cream, it was yum. That was the place to take all the fancy photos. Our final stop was Oxford street for a bit of makeup shopping in Selfridges and then Dinner at Burgeri. It was a long but eventful day. The circle line which was the route to most of our destinations, was closed. We ended up doing a detour, then catching the bus and going back and fourth to different places. Can’t complain though it was an experience as we made new friends along the way. It was my first time walking around Shoreditch and brick lane. With its quirky streets and clothes stores to small cafes and bookshops, walking through the valleys had a nice atmosphere and feel to it. There was a place we walked passed which had graffiti all over the brick walls which was fantastic for photos. The best part of this was I gained a marketing promotion from one of my Instagram followers: “Echoes”. They are a clothing company and wanted me to start promoting their brand for them.
There’s been a big hype about the Huda beauty foundation recently, so I thought I’d check what it was all about. Went into Selfridges and tried it out. It’s actually really good. the coverage is full and doesn’t feel heavy as well as brightens up the eye area. I brought foundation with the primer. I like to wear foundation which matches perfectly with my skin and also blends in well. This most certainly has that factor and the good thing is, it leaves a nice finish. It’s not dewy or matt just looks right. Combing that with the Huda beauty highlighter makes your skin looking brighter, healthier and vibrant. Give it a try. It cost me £30 but theres a lot of product in it and a little takes you a long way. I might do a YouTube tutorial on it so let me know what you think . I’ve also brought some new hair products: Kerastese thermo protect. I’ve only used it three times and it’s already done wonders. I had my hair bleached a few months ago and i would never do it again. It made my hair very dry and the colour only lasted a few weeks before it started turning into a copper colour. I’m always going to stick to natural brown shades now as that is what suits me. I intended on going for an ash brown shade but I think with Indian hair, its just hard to achieve. So after using this protein filled cream in my hair, it made my hair feel so much more softer and fuller. It also smells incredible. In salons I think its sold for £25 but I brought mine off Amazon for £18. I would highly recommend it.
On Sunday, I was meant to go for a bike hike at Cannock Chase near Birmingham. But I became really bad after coming home from London. The A/C on the train made me worse, so I spent most of my Sunday in bed. It was a shame as I was really looking forward to the bike hike but hopefully there will be plenty more to come. Yesterday I went for brunch with Sal at the Northern Cobbler on Clarendon Park Road. The food there is really nice. I had a avocado and salmon sandwich with hot chocolate. The weeks since I’ve started my new job have been going by so fast, that I feel as though I’m having no time. I try to fit it all in to my weekends and then there’s so many events to go to. Hopefully from next week on, it should all start to calm down.
Also I booked my tickets to Turkey. I am going to Istanbul, on the 1st of April - 7th of April. Fatema came over for dinner one day during the week and mentioned that she’s going to a spiritual retreat with people across the UK. She sent me the schedule and said there’s a few places left. I sent an enquiry and received an email back saying that I had until 5pm that day to decide. I sent my passport details to Fats and within the hour my place was secured.
I don’t actually know what I had got myself into as I have just invested £650 on a holiday which isn’t really a relaxing, beach type holiday. it’s more of a full planned week of waking up at 4:30am each morning for prayers and then going to tour Istanbul and attend lectures. This is way out of my comfort zone however, some part of me is super excited. I just booked it within a blink of an eye. I believe that I really need to do something like this and I’m glad that my sister’s coming with me. Who knows, it may change my perspective on things. So lets see.
For now I’m going to get ready for the gym as I want to go for a swim so peace out all and have a great rest of the day
Muchos gracias amigo
