Hello, steemians! Welcome to my greenhouse!
It was just warm enough today, in the mid 50s F, to encourage me to go out to the greenhouse to check on the plants and do a few things to continue to get ready for planting the big pots. We were expecting rain today, but that didn't happen here. It was mostly overcast with periodic breaks in the clouds for the sun to shine through, so the greenhouse was nice and warm all day. Apparently there was enough radiant energy coming through to warm up the greenhouse, even with the cloud cover.
I didn't move any dirt today, but I did get some moved in the past couple of days, and I have a good start on getting all the pots lined up. I need to buy 2 more of the 15 gallon pots to finish the lineup.
All the plants are continuing to do well, even with the cold nights that we've had. The greenhouse seems to protect the plants enough to keep them in good condition. The tomato plants are starting to look pretty good now after getting past the transplant shock from repotting them. They're even starting to develop the beginnings of buds for flowers, perhaps the Early Girls will actually have early tomatoes this year.
On top of the heat wall, I have the marigolds that will be planted with the tomato plants, a pot with 2 cherry tomato plants in it, and the cat mint. Apparently this cat mint is not the same as catnip, the cats show no interest in it. The half dead looking plant is a succulant that I brought out to the greenhouse a week or so ago so that it would get more sun. I don't have a good window for it in the house, and it suffered over the winter.
My strawberry plants continue to do well, the few that survived the winter in the greenhouse. These plants are growing well now. I think I'm going to have to transplant them out of the big pot so that I can use it for a tomato plant. I have some medium size pots that should do well for these plants, though I might just put them all into 1 pot.
The new everbearing strawberry plants that I bought a couple of weeks ago seem to also be doing well now, they seem to be adjusted to the bigger pots that I put them into after I bought them. A couple of the plants have green strawberries on them, they didn't lose them after the transplanting.
Shitaki, the robust black cat was helping to supervise the work today. Actually, I think she was looking for her catnip handout. She's a bit spoiled...
That's all I have for this post, I hope you found it interesting!
