Conscious that artificial intelligence will cause some job losses, the Green Party announced Sunday to impose companies every time they fire a worker to replace it with technology.
This amount will be equivalent to the income tax paid by the dismissed employee, said Elizabeth May's party.
These revenues will be used to fund retraining education programs so that employees affected by automation can find work in another area.
While Elizabeth recognizes that new technologies can be good for the economy when they run on renewable energy, she insists that their deployment needs to be framed.
"We can set an example to other countries on how to adapt innovation to the needs of a just society," said Amita Kuttner, party advocate for the Burnaby North-Seymour constituency in Colombia. -British.
Ms. May was also visiting Sunday in this province, where the Green Party has two members and can hope to have some others elected October 21, if we believe the latest polls.
