I was completely misled, greenwashed, and I genuinely feel cheated. I went looking for Innocent drinks, only to find out they’re owned by Coca-Cola, one of the world’s biggest plastic polluters. Innocent even ran cute TV ads with animated animals encouraging recycling, but the UK Advertising Standards Authority banned those ads for being blatantly misleading. All along, I thought I was drinking something good. How can a company owned by such a polluter claim to care about the environment?
Then I dug deeper, and I was gobsmacked. Coca-Cola owns tons of brands, far more than I expected. Here’s the full list:
Soft Drinks & Sodas:
Coca-Cola (classic, diet, zero sugar), Sprite, Fanta, Diet Coke / Coca-Cola Light, Barq’s Root Beer, Minute Maid (juices), Schweppes (in some markets)
Juices & Smoothies:
Innocent Drinks (smoothies, juices), Simply Orange, Del Valle (Latin America)
Coffee & Tea:
Costa Coffee (coffee shops and packaged coffee products), Georgia Coffee (popular in Japan), Honest Tea
Water & Sports Drinks:
Dasani (bottled water), Smartwater, Powerade (sports drink)
Other Beverages:
Fairlife (dairy and protein drinks), Zico (coconut water), Topo Chico (sparkling mineral water)
They’re everywhere, hiding behind “natural” or “healthy” facades while flooding the planet with plastic waste.
Now they’re pushing plant-based drinks, coffee, and hydration products like it’s some kind of green revolution. But don’t be fooled. It’s just clever marketing to cover up their massive environmental destruction.
I don’t trust Coca-Cola anymore, and I’ve stopped buying any of their products. People need to wake up and see who really owns the brands they support, and stop funding companies that lie, pollute, and exploit the planet without consequences.
