Here it is. The first print is ready. The printer took 58 minutes to produce this 4 gram coin. I'm no professional photographer and these small objects are not that easy to picture decently.
Open the image in a new tab to see it in more detail.
For a first print I'm quite satisfied. I didn't do any optimization, just use the default settings and print. The pictures make it look worse than it looks. They are very zoomed in and lighting plays a role. What's next? This is what I'm thinking about.
- The printer I'm using can print two colors. I'm thinking about different color for the cut out part (the part that is lower). Maybe a white color could change the look dramatically.
- I will ask if the fablab could order a purple color fillament to better match the new gridcoin theme.
- Investigate to give the cut out part a more flat surface.
- Design a backside
- Maybe add some more detail
I'm not a designer. I'm a simple geek who likes to toy around. All design advice is welcome! All opinions/feedback is greatly appreciated. If you have ideas for change just share them. I'll see what I can achieve.
One more note: someone asked me if I have any plans with it. I didn't really think about that. If there is demand I'm willing to make some but I do not intend to make a gadget factory or profit.
Now ... waiting eagerly for your feedback!
