Hello everyone, really enjoying paradise in Acapulco!! Fortunately I made some videos before I left cold Ohio. Today we will discuss the A Min Pentatonic Blues Scale, now technically it aint a pentatonic cause it has six notes, so maybe a sectatonic?
This scale is used is blues, and rock and many others. It essentially is an Amin Pentatonic with adding the blues note, a b5 between the 4 & 5. The intervals in the Aeolian Pentatonic from the perspective of Ionian are 6, 1, 2, 3, 5, thus from the perspective of Ionian the blues note would be a b3. The intervals from the perspective of Aeolian, making the 6 a 1, would be 1, b3, 4, b5, 5, b7, 1
This is a very fun scale and adds a particular vibe to pentatonic. Hope you enjoy tinkering around with it.
