First of all, I'd like to say that my thoughts and prayer go with the family of the students that have died. I have no idea how they must be feeling but hope they stay strong and get justice for the killer as he was caught.
In less than 6 months, there was a shooting at the Santa Fe Highschool today and so far the death toll has been confirmed to be 10 dead and it could be rising. As soon as the shooting started kids just ran from all sorts of direction and the shooter has been identified as Dimitrios Pagourtzis, who was actually a student with a great track record and was expected to graduate in 2019.
It's reached this point where things does not look good at all for the NRA, first Parkland and now Santa Fe. It's a matter of whether your kids feel safe inside a school or not. Trump proposed that teachers should carry fire arms and be trained to protect the kids from these type of incidents. In all honesty it seems like a practical plan that could act as deterrent, but giving it to teachers may be problem as well.
If the teachers are given the firearm then a shooter wouldn't have to look elsewhere to get the gun he could take it from one of the teachers. However, what is to stop the teacher from going rogue as well? it doesn't have to be students but teachers well that go rogue and also the firearm could be used for intimidation and other tactics. More guns doesn't mean better defence it means more chaos because you now have weapons that could fall into the hands of anyone, mentally unstable or not.
Of course all the celebrities and big names have given their thoughts and prayers but people are slowly changing their mind to gun control and if it isn't implemented then I can see riots and pretty violent ones happening. Kids are restless and scared of going school, because a mass shooting at a school happens almost every other day. Actions are needed now more than ever by people at the top, we need a strategy or something that doesn't encourage this.
