There have been two youths speak to the audience at the GRPC.
The first and most prominent was Kyle Kashuv. "Kashuv is a survivor of the February 14, 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. At the time of the shooting, Kashuv was 16 years old, attending his junior year."
Additionally, a 15 year old reshared a speech which he presented at another conference some months ago. And it was clear from the audience's reception and applause that they were pleased to hear the voices of both these juveniles.
I think teaching kids about safe and healthy handling of guns is severely needed in this day and age. Training and education is not needed to give kids the confidence to pick up a gun. Many already have that. Teaching is needed so that children and young adults can be respectful of "fire"arms and be able to handle them safely!!
One such organization does amazing work in this regard. It is Project Appleseed: https://appleseedinfo.org
I wish they had had a table here at GRPC, I think I may take it upon myself to see that they have representation next year.
After all, safe kids means safety for kids!! And we all want our children to be healthy and safe!
Peace
