Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
When I was a kid growing up in England I used to love November 5th.
We would have a bonfire in the back yard and tons of fireworks.
We had all types, from pinwheels to bangers, sparklers and even rockets.
Sometimes we had an effigy of Guy Fawkes sitting on top of the bonfire.
The explosions, the lights, the smell of burnt gunpowder.
It was such a fun night!
The next day after the celebrations, my brothers and I would go out and walk down the back alleys and find all kinds of fireworks that hadn't exploded. We would find tons of them!
The ones we couldn't light we would take apart and burn the gunpowder. It was a great time!
