We know how significant it is to build a good habit and get rid of bad ones. However, our bad habits dominate good ones. We should know the fact that these bad habits are built unknowingly and try to be with us forever. To cultivate a good practice, we must first get rid of bad habits that are linked to the good ones. In order to make our lifestyle healthy and to achieve our dreams, we must work hard by cultivating some good habits.
Willpower doesn’t work every time, rather try why power
I always believe in this quote. Many people advise spurring willpower to make things easier. Willpower may be a good idea to follow, but why power will not let you down. For example, you want to start healthy eating. Remembering the phrase that I should eat healthy may not work for some people, rather focus on why you are thinking of changing your diet. Is it to get a robust immune system, or to get a beautiful body? Whatever the reason, your focus must be on why power instead of willpower. Here is my tip to avoid junk food. If you really want to get rid of junk eating, try watching videos on YouTube which describes how things are cooked at their kitchen and what are the chemicals used to make it tasty and to increase shelf life. After watching those videos, I cannot imagine me eating junk food.
Trigger moments are helpful
Your new good habit may be drinking lot of water during your office hours. I know with the hectic work we have, we almost forget every day to drink at least two bottles of water during our office hours. My tip here is to trigger your alarm and put alarm as per your requirements. You are not supposed to sit for so long, so trigger your alarm and walk once in an hour to get your energy back. I use an app to stimulate things like this during working.
Try a good habit for a month.
The most successful approach is to have a habit at least for a month. This period allows you to get used to that pattern. About four years ago, I saw one of my close friends after a long period. She advised me to have green tea every day and told its rich in antioxidants and would keep me fit and slim. Since I didn’t like the taste of it, I took a month challenge of having green tea twice a day. And now I drink it every single day though that one month period is gone. So, try a good habit for a month, and as it is a good habit, you don’t want to lose it even after the period.
Reward yourself for what you are doing
We will stay motivated if we reward ourselves persistently for what we are doing to keep our good habit long. We should be proud of ourselves right for making a terrible good habit. You don’t want any rewards from other people around the world, but if you get a reward yourself, meaning the reward is so genuine. Therefore, reward yourself and stay motivated.
