So everybody wants a good automatic altcoin traderbot. Well some Russian kids have targeted the cryptocurrency scene with an undetectable trojan backdoor disguised as a free bot application! A trojan is a computer application that can be installed on a computer for remote access from another computer. They are used to build botnets or steal passwords and identities or run proxy servers on a multitude of computers. Sometimes millions of hacked devices will be connected to the same botnet. These devices can even be used to DDoS attack other networks and shut them down to a grinding halt. So it pays to be protected! Or does it even matter? The trojan that I got was undetectable (UD) by any of the common antivirus applications. These guys have skills, only a few of the 100 antivirus scanners in the world detected any malicious activity from this suspicious "altcoin trader bot."
Since Baidu antivirus caught it on the VirusTotal.com file scan, I downloaded the Baidu antivirus app to destroy the virus but it remained undetected.
When I was between the ages of 15 and 20 I played around a lot with these trojans (Remote Administration Tools) like Netbus, Subseven and back Orifice. So I know how they work and how hackers think. I watched these guys step by step own my computer. Yeah okay, I suspected it was a trojan when I opened the application but I did it anyways, only after opening did I send it to Virus Total to check for backdoors.
So after owning my box here is what they did. First they logged into Yobit.net altcoin exchange to steal Bitcoin. Then they logged into my coinbase. I got notification emails for both. But notification emails were not set up on Facebook so the hackers wreaked havoc on that. They used my account to spam their link and pin it at the top of all of the Facebook groups I own.. You can tell by the time on the post that it was done by a human and not a bot. They made one of their own Facebook accounts moderator in the Ethereum group and stole my friend's picture and used it as their own! The name of the account they used was Artur Roys.
Artur being a Russian name along with the IP address that they logged into my accounts with. They are either Russian or being portrayed as that. These Russian misfits even removed me and all of the other admins from some of the groups leaving them without moderators. These hackers are not only out for money, they are malicious and cruel. So from now on I will not act as my own honeypot from a computer I use at home and I have set up 2FA (two-factor authentication) and new device login notifications for Facebook.
