I've been growing my hair out for the past two years and I can tell you this much...I have a much deeper appreciation for those maintaining your beautiful locks. Between cleaning out the shower drain to waking up with a face-full of hair, its definitely a lot more work than it seems.
Almost coincidentally, I came across this really cool new project shared by called @Hairshares. This awesome organization provides incentives to people for donating their hair. I thought this would be a great opportunity to raise awareness and get involved with a nice project here on Steemit.
Me and a light bulb before the cut
And in case you don't believe this is me...
Getting a little crazy with it one last time!
I felt a huge weight off my head from the very first cut and taking a shower afterwards was quite the experience. My hair dries so fast now!
"The gift of your hair can keep a smile on someone's face that really needs it... and a smile can be a very important tool when >fighting cancer, alopecia or any other reason that one may lose their hair."
Hairshares Project
After a little research on each of the charities, I've decided to donate my hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. It's comforting knowing that you can make a difference in a cancer survivor's life by doing something so simple.
packing the envelope now
I encourage anyone with the means to give it a try! We are fortunate to be able to grow it back, so why not share the wealth?
I realized this morning that someone had just claimed the jackpot yesterday so I know I won't be getting nearly as much as I could have, but to be honest I don't care. I'm just happy I could spread awareness throughout the community!
Cheers!
