A productive mid-week for us. We were to take a drive for a celebration, but changed our minds. We are going out this weekend anyway, so we thought we would make the most of it then.
We worked on our new project insteadāthe pit (a small waste tank). Well, the hole in the ground (about six feet high, six feet long, and 4 feet wide) had been there for over a month now. We paid Mr. U in the first week of March to dig it up. He was smart to ask Mr. K for help, and they completed the job in just a day.
The materials had been purchased, but we haven't found someone to do it. The previous carpenters we contracted last year had backlogs on their contracts, and couldn't spare time for us, so the work had been on hold until I came home (Sunday) and urged the hubby to get on with it, even if we are slow.
Well, he agreed. We are both hands-on with things anyway. With the help of power tools (electric cutters, mixers, and such), we started cutting and installing the steel bars and laying hollow blocks on Monday. We took a break on Tuesday (laundry day) and continued with the walling job yesterday. We were done with it around mid-afternoon, so yay! And I said we were slow!
Not perfectly done (we are amateurs, eh), but I think waterproofing will help improve it.
I would say the hubby and I are quite a team. Things seem easier (and more fun) when we do them together. And we get to cultivate patience, playfulness, teamwork, and such. That's probably why we tend to thrive when working together. Two heads are better than one after all. And most importantly, we learn from one another and develop some skills.
Anyhoo, that wasn't the end of it. There is still more work to be done. Maybe we will get back to it next week. For now, we are going to have a mellow day. But before that, let me have a quick update on my Slothly Savings for week 14. The numbers are below.
| YE Goal | Current Balance | Last Week | Growth (+ / -) | To Go | Note | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HIVE | 1000 | 378 | 313 | 65 | 622 | on track |
| HBD | 200 | 30.756 | 30.756 | - | - | - |
Adding 65 HIVE in a week isn't bad at all, although I should be able to put more. I'm not that consistent these days, but it's still nice to be working on a goal.
Having set one here keeps me going, just as things irl keep my muscles activeš
