2018 marks the Grand Opening for the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter gift shop at Universal Orlando Resort is filled with unique Fantastic Beasts Movie related merchandise & gifts.
I love Harry Potter. Not only the books and films, which I cannot get enough of but everything that comes from the wizarding world of my favorite wand-wielding wizard. This obsession includes all the merchandise which offers encouragement to any die-hard fan like me the chance to immerse themselves in the full character experience.
With a long, excruciating wait, like a slow-motion game of Quidditch where you already know the result, the new gift shop in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley section of Universal Orlando Resort, had a Grand Opening on October 30th, 2018 in the form of the Globus Mundi Travel Agent. A splendid addition to the themed wizarding world and an excellent opportunity to partake in all things Platform 9 3/4 and the Hogwarts Express.
The themed gift shop takes on the appearance of the magical travel agency which has, until recently, been just a facade of the fictional store found in Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando. The location of the store has taken residence in the vacant wand room in Ollivanders' famous shop. Now you can get your hands on luggage tags, travel mugs, clothing, key chains, and passport covers bearing the Globus Mundi logo.
As the story goes, the Globus Mundi travel agency was alleged to be established in 1876, (ask grandpa, he may remember). The establishment was situated above the photography studio owned by the Shutterbutton’s and then opened with its own storefront at Carkitt Market. The magical business was only to take a backstory role in all things to do with travel in the Potter-universe, but now it may seem to take on a new purpose going forward, at least that’s what the rumors would lead us to believe.
Visitors to the gift shop can immerse themselves in the full Globus Mundi travel agent experience, taking in the MinaLima, destination poster and advertisement paraphernalia from the WWOHP film franchise. You can find official looking train tickets at the ticket office (not for sale, unfortunately), news of broom tours and Knight Bus excursion information, all available on display to those who can’t get enough of this further look into the fantasy world of magic. I must confess, I’m one of the many Diagon Alley Super-fans, and you’ll find me first in the queue when it comes to opening time.
