Closer to Home
Hurricane Harvey made landfall on August 26, 2017. This video and interview was taken on September 12, 2017. The Obvious Questions
Did they have flood insurance?
Yes, for 20 years. The flood insurance only covers 4 walls and builder grade flooring. That means that they only get sheet rock, insulation, and paint. Flood insurance does not cover appliances and furniture.
Did they apply for FEMA?
Yes, they applied for FEMA assistance over 20 days ago and haven't been approved yet. The only people approved immediately, are the ones living in Red Cross shelters.
Where are they living?
FEMA gave them a 30 day voucher for housing in a town 70 miles north of Houston
What can I expect to see in the video?
You get to hear the story about Macy's in Deerbrook Mall that attempted to tow the flood victims cars during the flood, including @VischangeFitness
You get a walk-through of the Kent residence and see before and after.
You get to see how their entire neighborhood was turned into a ghost town over night.
What's the purpose of this post?
It's to raise awareness of their situation and all liquid SBD from this post will be donated to . We know it won't change his life, but it will uplift his spirits. He may be a minnow, but damn it he is OUR MINNOW.
