Hi everyone!
Last weekend we stayed in a town called Manzanita on the Oregon coast for a couple of days. It was a pretty great weekend, even if it rained pretty much the entire time.
We started our weekend visiting a little goat farm...
They were all super curious and very friendly...
... and like... bitey...
They were honestly all so super cute... but it did make us realise that we probably don't want goats ourselves, they were all extremely energetic, interested in things and a little cheeky.
One of the highlights of our weekend at the coast was one particular hike on Neahkahnie Mountain.
It's about a 5 mile hike which took us just under 2 hours to get to the lookout and back. The actual full hike is a lot longer, but it was starting to rain so we really just hit the high spots.
Like most of the hikes in this region... it's so crazy green and lush... which obviously makes sense if our weekend of rain was any indication of usual weather patterns...
The track was really well maintained... but it was super tight in places. I'd definitely rate this as a difficult hike because there were a few spots where we had to scramble to get through.
Yeah, the below photo was the actual path.
I didn't have any problems personally, but I can totally see that some people would have had to turn back. This would be a shame because the view at the top was honestly spectacular.
The below photo definitely doesn't do it justice. You can't really see, but the little grey parts on that coast is the town of Manzanita...
If you wanted to do this hike, this is the one on AllTrails:
And sure, maybe the AllTrails app was gaslighting us to make it seem like we were drunk... but we followed the path, we promise...
Again, you can't really see because it was so rainy... but this is the view from the beach of the hike we did...
All in all, we had a great weekend and I'd highly recommend giving Manzanita a little look if you're in the region.
Thanks for reading!
