Introduction
Bang Saray is a small fishing village about 2 hours from Bangkok located on the eastern side of the Gulf of Thailand. From here is where the author is based a lot of the time. In the last post about Bang Saray, we were at the fishing pier which is on the opposite south end of the beach. As mentioned at that post, I'm uncovering Bang Saray's spots one by one. I'll do a general write up of the place soon also. Today, it's the North end of the beach.
Someone had been at these with a cookie cutter ...
Bang Saray Beach's Natural Section
There is a road running all along the main section of Bang Saray beach, where most of the shops, cafes, restaurants, park, monuments and street food are located. However if you drop onto the beach and keep going on foot, past where the road leaves the beach - you will find yourself in a much more untouched and wild part of the beach. All the photos here were taken at this North or 'top' end of Bang Saray beach.
Wild sea grasses
As you can see, it looks a lot more 'untouched' than the rest of Bang Saray Beach. It is here also where the high end resorts are located, separated from one another by wild fields in between.
The Del Mar condo peeps through the tree. Looking South towards Bang Saray.
Walk all the way to the top end of the beach past where the road turns away, and you find yourself alongside a combination of seafront land - some of it still wild, undeveloped land and fields behind, some beachfront properties, plus a smattering of luxury resorts.
The land behind is empty, and has many wild shrubs and flowers.
When the tide is out enough, you can walk all the way to Na Jomtien. It's a sloping beach with occasional rocky segments, easy going. The sand is firmer a the shoreline. Flat soled shoes essential (do not attempt in flip flops or bare feet. You could step on broken glass or other objects washed up/hidden by the sand). It's 3-4 km each way all the up, and 3-4km back to the main park area of Bang Saray. Check the tide times (use a smartphone app) and go when it is lowest for the most rewarding walk.

Paddle boards for rent. I plan to try this soon!
Paddle boards ready and available to hire from SUP - just call the number and someone will show up. Going to try this activity out soon. These are just a little way past the sharp right turn where the road leaves the beach, before the U Pattaya resort hotel.
Beachfront property
Looking towards Bang Saray, it looks so green from here.
Bang Saray, Thailand
Finding a peaceful shady spot to cool off before heading back. From here we can now see more of the coastline, and the small island poking out from the headland.
On a more recent walk, the tide was quite low. I was able to keep going all the way to Na Jomtien, notice how different the headland looks now!
Right to the end
Conclusion
There's always more to places than meets the eye. Even after living here for a couple of years, I never got myself motivated to hike all the way up here. This is just scratching the surface, as there's also all the Navy land on the opposite end, and the mountain and jungle side above that. Stay tuned for all these to come, and soon more further flung adventures in Thailand.
