If you genuinely believe that we evolved from apes, then this post is not for you. I have no intention of trying to convince anyone who is not ready to admit to their self that it's bullshit.
This post is aimed at those of you who have come to see evolution for what it is; a deceptive and erroneous ideology, propagated in order to perpetuate the adversarial "survival of the fittest" mindset.
To you, the people who do not adhere to the evolutionary doctrine-- which it most certainly is, I have what I consider to be an important message.
Belief in evolutionary theory has taken a hit in recent years, which is good for truth, but really bad for a consumer society such as this one. It was our belief that we are creatures of random chance that led us to accept buying things as a purpose in life.
It is clear to me at this point, that the theory is not going to survive much longer. But it is also clear to me, that this "We have no free will" debate that has gained traction in recent years is the "science" that will replace evolutionary theory.
Why?
Well. I believe it is because Atheism has played its role in our world. A population of believers is now needed, for we will soon have a God to worship. ( I will write about this soon )
But acceptance in a God is likely to make one question whether they should live the life that modern-society has laid out for them. If there is a God, then surely they made us for a reason. Surely, we have a purpose.. and surely, that purpose is not to attain as much money or clothes or gadgets as we possible can.
So how do they convince us to keep living these meaningless lives when we, the people of the world, are slowly coming to the realisation that we have meaning?
Well it is rather simple. If we must transcend this false belief that we are creatures of chance on a planet of chance, then tell us instead that we have no control over who we are, and we will once again be able to justify the path we have taken.
We have no free will after all. No choice. We are just a product; a product of our environment, and a product of our genetic code that we played no part in selecting.
This ideology is even more dangerous than evolutionary theory, however. Not only does it justify our consumeristic approach to existence, but it also gives us an excuse not to try and be better than we are; for if we have no free will, then who we are is not our choice anyway.
I want to put this shit to bed right now. And it really is not hard to do so.
For me, the lack of free will argument is debunked the moment I get a thought, and decide against acting on it. But, I understand that others will need more. The argument posed by advocates of this theory seem to be that the subconscious mind is God. All decisions really come from there, and we can't do anything to change them.
So; if I can demonstrate that one can in fact make serious changes to one's subconscious mind, then the "we have no free will" argument is surely defeated.. no?
Psychedelic Drugs and Neuro-plasticity
There is a hierarchy within the brain, one which dictates which stimuli will receive the most attention. For the majority of one's times, stimuli from our immediate environment(our five sense) is at the top of the hierarchy, with the subconscious mind at the very bottom. So sure, it is hard to make any deliberate changes to your subconscious mind in this state.
However, through advanced meditation and/or the use of psychedelic drugs, we can reverse that hierarchy, and point our mind's focus towards that which was previously hidden. This is why psychedelic drugs are often used to treat trauma sufferers, or those with depression/addiction problems.
When paying attention to the deepest parts of our psyche, the neuropathways in our brain become weaker, which gives us the opportunity to deprogram ourselves, and unlearn that which we wish we had not learned. More impressively, at the end of such a session, supposing one has made some introspective progress, the damaging neuropathways can be completely removed from the brain, and new ones can be put in place.
There is no shortage of information on this if you want to go look for it yourself. There are some recent studies on Ayahuasca that have shown this to an adequate degree. But once you do look into it, and once you realise that these drugs can be used to change the part of your mind that we apparently have no control over, perhaps then you will also see this free will debate for what it is.
Of course we have free will. Suffering exists only as a consequence of the gift of free will. And one doesn't even need hallucinogenic plants in order to discover this. Any of you have who had a significant meditative experience will know that it is near identical to taking such drugs, and so it is very fucking likely, that we have the power to change who we are just by shutting up long enough to hear what it is we need to change.
