Aloha,
I've made it to Hawaii the place is amazing.
Even tho hurricane lane happened when i was here, it didn't really touch Ohau luckily.
So what's good to do here?
Koko head hike is just a short bus ride from Waikiki beach, you can get the 23 or 22 and it drops you off just outside the start of the trek. It costs around $5 for a return ticket.
The trek is to an old world war 2 military lookout with abandoned railroad ties leading up to the top, It's over 1000 steps and 990 feet elevation. It definitely looks a lot harder than it is, but you can have plenty of rest stops on the way up and still take amazing photos on the climb.
There is a part of the trek where the railway track is elevated with no bottom, It can be a bit scary/dangerous but its not to bad. The hike takes anywhere from 20 mins to an hour... i did it in 26 minutes.
When you get to the top the spectacular panoramic views of the east Honolulu shoreline are more than worth it, even on a cloudy day.
