Over the past couple days the residents on the East side of the Big Island of Hawai'i have been on edge, and for good reason.
You probably would be too, if you might be burned in a lake of lava at any moment.
(If you have family or friends on the Big Island, you might want to make sure they're okay and not stranded somewhere by lava.)

It's not that I didn't expect this to happen, but I have to admit, I didn't expect it to happen this soon.
This is right in my front yard in terms of geographical location, at least it used to be, before I left Hawai'i 2 years ago.
What you are looking at in the above photo is a subdivision in the Puna District of Hawai'i called Leilani.
Leilani is home to several thousands of people, with families, and homes that offer no insurance protection from lava.
Hundreds of earthquakes have recently been reported within the chain of islands.
Cracks have developed in the streets that can open up fissures to let lava escape, which has already happened in other areas.
I am crossing my fingers that everyone is okay in the great 808 state, I know this is a very trying time for many. Anyone who had problems before, and is in the way of the lava, now has a much bigger problem to consider.
