Hawaii County Civil Defense is under fire from the Hawaii County Council. The big complaint it that the information flow during the two emergencies was not as good as some wanted. I, however, disagree as the information that was readily available in multiple forms of media.
Some of the biggest criticism was around the decision to focus on recovery. That criticism is ridiculous. Hawaii County Civil Defense did a great job ensuring that people had a place to stay and that people were safe. Their focus was on the people affected, and that is how it should be.
The County Council's criticisms lacked and real examples other than someones phone "blowing up." The information was out there on Social Media, in the print media, on the TV, and on web sites, what more do people want.
The people at Civil Defense are HEROES and they should be going to medal ceremonies rather than political inquisitions.
