Greetings all, it has been a good few days since I have found time to sit at the computer to let my fingers glide across the keyboard and get things off my mind.
I am very close to my second paycheck (48 hours) in my new job, and I am dying to have it. I didn't think I would be crawling to payday after all, I set aside £200 from my first paycheck as savings/emergency, and well, that went wrong, but not regrettably wrong, I just may have got carried away with certain things. I managed to future-proof myself with clothing. Celebrate big about getting a new job, so I have satisfied myself there and also brought some fitness-related tech to boost motivation.
I look back on the previous month, and yeah, I did fail on my goal of saving £200 a month, but at the same time, was it better to enjoy myself straight away and future-proof myself this month to hopefully make the next months easier? Only time will tell, and I will let you know when that time comes.
Going into my next payday, I have made some changes to help achieve the goal of saving £200 monthly. The big thing was writing down my monthly expenses and trying to predict my food shop and other necessities spending. And after adding all together, it came to the total of £285,96 excluding rent and mandatory bills.
It was much more, it was closer to £350, but I cut a lot of pointless things. Cancelling Spotify, Downgrading Netflix, Cancelling Disney+ and switching to a cheaper gym. I made small changes and even cut away things that I do enjoy, but I know I don't devote enough time towards it to warrant the cost. All in all, I managed to get my monthly expenses down and, in turn, make it easier to save, especially being on a low-hour contract and bringing home under £1000 monthly and not even earning enough to contribute to taxes.
I live in hope that this month goes much better savings-wise for me. I picked up some Overtime at work, too, so A little bump in wages will also help out massively.
That brings me away from the money talk and onto the sunny weather the UK is finally experiencing. I have missed the warm weather, and it is so nice to go out walking and not be bogged down with big winter coats, thick hats and gloves and just be able to breathe easy and even sit down and soak it all in. One thing I have done a lot this week is go for walks with a fellow hiking friend and visit new areas, sit and read, study and chat in various cafés, pubs and university campus environments and best of all, she is a PHD student and being a PHD student is challenging with student loans, debts and low income so we both keep active and avoid spending further boosting my savings potential. It is nice to meet with friends and do stuff for free and not have to rely on costs.
With that, I conclude today's posting, thanks for reading.
