It was already known that the heart does repair itself but it does it very slowly over a long period of time. Individuals who suffer a heart attack or some other damage typically have reduced heart function for the rest of their lives due to the very slow regeneration rate. The discovery of this new kind of RNA 'Singheart' seems to be a trigger for the regeneration process by the heart.
Heart failure is a common illness from which there has not been found a cure. These new discoveries may lead to a cure for heart failure and save the lives of patients who need a heart transplant. Patients who include individuals like C.T. Fletcher, the famous body builder and motivational speaker who may be able to benefit if a treatment is available in time.
