This is made possible using MRI technology. In specific, FMRI can and is used to allow machines to read the minds of humans. This technology has been used for lie detection in the past. The study used one of these mind reading FMRI devices to hook subjects up and monitor their brains. A song was played and based on the blood flow patterns of each brain the patching matching mechanism of the machine was able to determine what song matched the brain pattern. This is a significant breakthrough because it shows just how much progress mind reading technology has achieved in such a short period of time. It also reveals that in our future there will be a social cross road where society will have to determine whether to keep or remove the last vestige of privacy (the privacy of the human brain). Sooner or later technology will render even the brain transparent unless the laws are changed to prevent it.
