In the real world, sleepwalking or sleepwalking may not be as extreme in films, where a person walks with his arms outstretched and his eyes closed. However, this phenomenon is a real medical condition that generally occurs in children and even adults. So, what actually happens to a person's body while sleeping while walking?
Quoted from the Times of India, sleepwalking occurs due to chemical imbalances. In simple words, there are two types of chemicals produced in the brain, first when awake and the second while sleeping. When there is a balance in chemicals, this puts the body that leads to sleep. Conversely, when there is interference with both these chemicals, it will cause sleep while walking.
Basically, there are five phases of sleep while walking. Well, this condition usually occurs during stages three and four, when the body is sleeping soundly and NREM (non-rapid eye movement). Because NREM is not connected to memory in the brain, consequently people who experience this will not remember the incident. Even sleeping while cooking too, people who experience really do not remember at all.
Sleep diseases tend to occur in children because the body does not produce enough chemicals that rest the body. This chemical is commonly known as GABA. In addition to children, sleepwalking also occurs in adults. The cause also varied, namely stress, fatigue, lack of sleep, too much caffeine, and alcohol.
In addition, mental problems such as stress, anxiety and depression also contribute to making a person experiencing sleepwalking. To fix this, find out the cause. If the stress then must remove stress. If sleep deprivation, of course have to maintain good sleeping cycle, for example sleep eight hours a day. If too much caffeine and alcohol intake, it is advisable to reduce it.
However, if this problem can not be controlled and the body continues to experience this sleep disorder, it is better to go to a neurologist or sleep specialist for consultation or treatment.
