White sugar which is also known as cane sugar, refined sugar or table sugar, comes under the category of disaccharides and it is chemically known as sucrose. It is devils of any vitamins, minerals or fibre because in the refining process all these things get removed. Hence it provides only empty calories and it has been implicated to have harmful effects in the body.
White sugar robs the body of vitamin B1 which is known as THIAMINE. This is necessary for digestion and assimilation by the body of all carbohydrate food. The vitamins is stolen from nerves, muscles, liver, kidney, heart, skin, eyes, blood and stomach, this leaves these organs deficient in B vitamins.
The consumption of white sugar can also lead to nervous irritability, digestive disorders, heart trouble, anaemia etc.
One good way to avoid vitamins B deficiency is to consume much carbohydrates in natural form because thiamine which is necessary for digestion of sugar or starch is present in the food itself.
