I live in a large city and it's 99% of the time super face paced and everyone's in hurry. As someone who's half blind that means I can't see half the world aka the right side of my body is my blind spot.
Doing as much as walking downtown as become a hassle I can't see anyone on my right side and people are passing you bumping you, telling you to watch it. The angry looks you get when your in someone's way. The rude comments like "watch it bitch" or "get out of the way". Its a never ending hassle.
Sitting on the c-train having to see about a dozen people staring at you, no one smiles. They look at you like it's your fault. And when they have the courage to ask it comes out as "what the hell happened to your face" which isn't the nicest comment.
Simple things like crossing streets have become issues because cars don't stop they don't wait here. People are in such a rush something like you crossing the street takes to long so they rush around you and you have to play dodge car. Grocerie shopping becomes you getting hit by people's carts and being told to watch it. I never thought it would be so hard only losing one eye but the proven to take a lot out of me. Mentally, emotionally, physically. So as someone who's visually impaired please be kind please don't drive around us or honk at us to move. We have enough stress and anxiety about going out.
