Have you or someone you know been affected by cancer?
That’s a pretty terrifying thought especially considering chemotherapy is the main form of treatment for cancer patients.
Chemotherapy is such a toxic form of treating cancer that many patients end up dying as a result of chemotherapy side effects before the cancer actually killed them. And if the chemo was successful, in most cases the patient has been left with very undesirable side effects that will be with them the rest of their life.
Considering that there are countless natural substances on this planet that have amazing healing properties then why is it that the pharmaceutical industry is still relying on these man-made drugs? I have my theories of course but that’s for another time.
One of these amazing natural substances we have all heard of or used by now...
Cannabis. Hemp. Marijuana.
Whatever you want to call it. It might just be the best gift mother nature ever gave to us.
Thanks to Dr. Ralph Mechaoulam, an Israeli researcher and professor of Medicinal Chemistry, we know much more about our biological relationship to this plant. He discovered what is called the Endocannabinoid System - “a subtle system within the body that seemed to have a balancing effect on every other system”. This amazing system in our bodies is designed to receive cannabinoids through a series of molecular receptors. This means these receptors are meant to receive both cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), as well as cannabigerol (CBG) and cannabinol (CBN).
Many studies have shown that cannabinoids have an anti tumor effect. While the combination of both CBD and THC together has the most potent effects against tumor growth, both parts can act alone in killing off cancer cells. CBD has the ability to interfere with the cellular communication in the tumor and is shown to cause a programmed cancer cell death. While THC has also been shown to reduce tumor growth as well, it is especially effective in preventing metastasis.
Cannabis is a non-toxic substance. Chemotherapy is a deadly one.
It is commonly known that countless cancer patients have turned to medical marijuana to alleviate the side effects of toxic chemotherapy treatments. But with the promising results and studies of cannabis working within our own endocannabinoid system, hopefully more and more patients will start to turn to cannabis as their main form of medicine.
Unfortunately for me, I have seen cancer up close with a loved one. But currently, thanks to cannabis we are seeing very hopeful results.
